Thanks Jim. It's very humbling to trade with people who remain untouched by the rat race the rest of us live in...

Artist's Description

One of the best ways to experience diving is to go by liveaboard, where you live on the boat and do nothing but eat, sleep and dive for 7-14 days. Heaven on earth! If you dive in the developing world there will always be a visit to your boat by the friendly islanders. The Captain and crew trade staples to which the remote villagers have no access (rice, noodles, flour, soap etc.) in exchange for local fresh fruits and vegetables we need daily. We always bring school supplies, personal hygiene articles and always frisbees for gifts. Frisbees float, won't rust and have no need for batteries. No matter the language, even if they've never seen one before, once you throw a frisbee to a child you'll be rewarded with a catch and a delightful smile! These villagers were trading wit us in Papua New Guinea aboard the Stardancer.

About Paula De Baleau

Paula De Baleau

My passion is scuba diving and visually documenting the beauty of our underwater world. The currents can rip, and many subjects are constantly moving, making underwater photography quite challenging at times. With patience and a lot of luck my husband and I have been rewarded with some spectacular shots. I hope you enjoy the images as much as we do! They make thoughtful, unusual, one of a kind gifts. If you don't see the image size you want, or have a special request, please contact me. Chances are I can make it happen! A special thanks to everyone who visits. You really make my day! See you at the bottom! Paula To purchase handmade, matted, metallic photo greeting cards please visit my...
