Comatulid Crinoids are commonly known as Feather Stars. This one’s arms are retracted, but when feeding, the arms open and resemble feathers catching plankton in the current. They can be very colorful, or starkly formal, like this one in black and white. Fossil records date some species to 450 million years ago.
